Even before India passed the 7 million mark in coronavirus infections, Indians across the country were feeling the effects of the pandemic, with schools and businesses being closed and millions of people rapidly switching to distance working and learning. The need for effective distance learning was evident, and despite video chat platforms such as Zoom and Skype offering some possibilities for the instruction of classes remotely, many teachers continue to struggle with organization and an effective methodology when it comes to teaching their students online.
Recognizing this issue, YaClass began in September to offer free webinars, hosted by YaClass’s chief teaching methodist, Dr. Narayanakumar. He has a Ph.D in Environmental Science in addition to an international diploma in teaching and training from Cambridge and a decade of experience in teaching and research at top Indian universities and EdTech companies. Before working for YaClass, he was a master trainer and pedagogist, offering training to teachers across India and Saudi Arabia and authored a book titled Mastering the Methods for Millennials. You can watch the recording of the latest webinar here.
Participants learned how to create an effective distance learning programme for their students during the COVID-19 quarantine. Dr. Narayanakumar also discussed the problems teachers face when instructing their classes remotely, how to start teaching remote classes with their students from the comfort and safety of their homes as well as how to assign online assignments and tests using YaClass in just a few hours, completely for free.
Other important points of the webinar included:
- Conducting an online assessment for a set of students.
- Taking advantage of the YaClass assessment system
- Tracking a student’s performance and analysing their individual learning potential
Teachers which enrolled with YaClass also received 30 days of free access to all the premium features of the YaClass learning system in order to apply the methods learned in the webinar. The webinar wrapped up with consultations with YaClass representatives and Dr. Narayanakumar, who answered the participant’s numerous questions.
YaClass will be holding similar webinars on varying topics related to distance learning and instruction on a weekly basis. Those who are interested are invited to attend by signing up as a teacher to receive emails about the upcoming Webinar.
