25. Moral of the lesson

The moral of the lesson "The Necklace" is never to be greedy but to be content with whatever you have in life. Furthermore, the narrative conveyed that we should not hide the truth, at least not from our closest friends, and that we should be honest because dishonesty might lead to difficulties. Due to Matilda's dishonesty, she suffered, lost ten years of her life, and had a pitiful life. If Matilda had told her friend about the lost necklace, her friend might have shared the information earlier (what Matilda had lost was not an original diamond necklace).
