8. Analysis

The poem "Garden Snake" talks about how people form their opinions and ideologies based on what majority of the society believes in. The society creates a lot of stereotypes based on half formed ideas. Children are born with less exposure about the good and evil in the world. They are easily prone to manipulation. The poem talks about the speaker who has been a victim to these generalisations made by the society. It is generally believed that all snakes are bad. This is because some people do not understand that all creatures in the world have a purpose to fulfill. Without these creatures, there would be a considerable imbalance in the eco-system. The poem also revolves around the fact that animals do not attack unless one interferes into its niche.
