3. Introduction

The lesson “The Summit Within” is a chapter taken from the book “Higher Than Everest: Memoirs of a Mountaineer”.

“Higher Than Everest: Memoirs of a Mountaineer” is an autobiography written by H P S Ahluwalia. The book consists of eleven chapters, and it was published in the year \(1973\). In this book, Ahluwalia shared his experiences of mountain climbing and his life after the Indo-Pakistan war.

The lesson “The Summit Within” narrates Ahluwalia’s experiences of climbing the mighty Mount Everest and the summit within. The major themes of the lesson are adventure, nature, spiritual and physical aspects.
