Book Free DemoRuskin bond was born on \(19th\) May \(1934\) in Kasauli, Himachal Pradesh, India and is now 86 years old. He completed his education at Bishop Cotton School in Shimla, and he has lived in Mussorie- Landour since \(1962\). He is an Indian author of British descent. He won many literary awards during his school years, including the Hailey Literature Prize and the Irwin Divinity Prize.
He earned his graduation in \(1952\) and then moved to England. When he returned to India, he spent a few years working as a journalist in Delhi and Dehradun. In \(1992\), he received the Sahitya Academy Award for his English novel: Our Trees Still Grow in Dehra. Ruskin's parents separated when he was eight years old. As a little boy, Ruskin suffered severely as a result of this separation.
Nonetheless, he chose to be ambitious and pursued his father's dream of being a writer. His first twenty years were crucial to his development as a writer. When he was \(17\), he wrote his first book, "The Room on the Roof." His personal experiences in Dehra Dun inspired this novel. For his first book, he received the John Llewellyn Rhys Memorial Prize. His childhood in Himalayan hill stations inspires the majority of his works. "Scenes from a Writer's Life" were inspired by his travel to England.
He is considered to be an icon among Indian writers and a top novelist. He is much renowned for his role in promoting children’s literature in India. The Indian Council for Child Education has recognized his role in the growth of children’s literature in India. As a prolific writer, he has written over \(500\) short stories, essays and novels. His popular novel 'The Blue Umbrella' was made into a Hindi film and was awarded the National Film Award for the best children’s film in \(2007\).
FAMILY: Ruskin Bond was born on the dying days of the British Raj. His childhood was lonely and miserable, one marked by his parents' divorce and his mother’s remarriage. His father died in \(1944\) during the \(2nd\) World War, and his mother and stepfather brought him. Among blood, Bond has \(2\) sisters and a brother.

AWARDS: The Indian Council for Child Education recognized his pioneering role in the growth of children’s literature in India and awarded him the Sahithya Academy Award in \(1992\). He was awarded the Padmasree in \(1999\) and Padmabhushan in \(2014\).
