"The Jungle Book" is a play adapted from Rudyard Kipling's book of stories called "The Jungle Book". While the original text contains about \(14\) stories, the play that is prescribed is only an adaptation of the chapter \(1\) of the original text called "Mowgli's Brothers".

The story of "Mowgli's Brothers" is such: The setting is an Indian jungle called Seonee Hills. In the jungle, a child is raised by wolves with the assistance of Baloo the bear and Bagheera the black panther. They teach him the "Law of the Jungle" and the way of animal life. The wolf-pack and Mowgli are attacked by the tiger Shere Khan a few years later. In the end, Mowgli uses fire to scare Shere Khan away, but he eventually decides to leave the jungle to learn the ways of a human.
