7. Summary of the poem

Wandering Singers is a poem written by Sarojini Naidu. The wandering singers are led by the voice of the winds. They roam about in forests and streets wherever the wind echoes. They carry their lutes and sing as they travel. They treat everyone as their kindred and the whole world is home to them. Their songs cover a variety of themes including glorious cities whose past has been forgotten; about the past lives of noble, happy and beautiful women; about mighty battles and the kings who fought with bravery. Their songs include beauty, history, glory, bravery,  happiness and sorrow.

They do not have any hopes or dreams like others. No joy or love can make them stay in a place.  The voice of the winds decide their destiny.
