Book Free DemoWhen do we use the Present Perfect Continuous?
This time describes an action that began in the past, continued for some time and still continues at the time of the conversation:
Example:
The workers have been trying to move our bath for half an hour, go help them.
The action, which began in the past, continued for some time and ended just before the conversation:
Example:
Do you like this cake?
I have been baking it since morning.
With verbs like work, live, feel, teach, used as Present Perfect and Present Perfect Continuous are used without a difference in meaning.
These verbs mean, that the action takes a long period of time, that is, it becomes already a constant state.
Example:
I’ve worked here for 15 years. = I’ve been working here for 15 years.
If you want to emphasize that the situation is temporary, then you must use Present Perfect Continuous.
Example:
I’ve been working in production for the past five years but now I feel it’s time for something new.
