When a pattern or a design repeats itself without a reflection or a rotation, then it is called translational symmetry.
In the example given above, the group of four coloured boxes are repeating itself or duplicating itself without changing their orientation.
When a pattern or a design repeats itself in a slanting order, even it comes under translational symmetry.
In the example given above, the design's orientation doesn't change. But, the pattern repeats itself in a slanting order.
