\(B_1\), \(B_2\) and \(B_3\) are three identical bulbs connected as shown in figure. When all the three bulbs glow, a current of \(3A\) is recorded by the ammeter \(A\).

(i) What happens to the glow of the other two bulbs when the bulb \(B_1\) gets fused?

(ii) What happens to the reading of \(A_1\), \(A_2\) and \(A_3\) and \(A\) when the bulb \(B_2\) gets fused?

(iii) How much power is dissipated in the circuit when all the three bulbs glow together?

Circuit diagram

(i) When the bulb \(B_1\) gets fused, the glow of the other two bulbs \(B_2\) and \(B_3\) .

(ii) Total resistance is given by

1R=iiR=ii

From Ohm's law, i=ii we get the value of resistance as  Ω.

When the bulb \(B_2\) gets fused, then the total resistance is

1R=iiR=ii

The current is

i=ii=iA

Reading of \(A_1\) \(=\)  \(A\)

Reading of \(A_2\) \(=\)  \(A\)

Reading of \(A_3\) \(=\)  \(A\)

(iii) The formula for power dissipation in the circuit is . On substituting the known values, we get .
