a. Large quantities of biomass were trapped inside the earth for long periods of time under anaerobic, high-pressure conditions, and they were converted into oxygen and nitrogencoal and petroleum.

 

b. Coal and petroleum are used in ever-increasing amounts in industry, transportation, kitchens, and other areas because they are rich sources of energy.

 

c. Although coal and petroleum are produced by degradation of bio- mass, yet we need to conserve them. Why?
