In simple terms, fabrics made up of yarns, and yarns further made up of fibres.
We get fibers from natural sources such as cotton, jute, silk, and wool, that obtained from plants and animals. These are called natural fibres.

Fibres | Sources |
Cotton | From plants |
Jute | From plants |
Wool | Obtained from the fleece of sheep or goat |
Silk | Drawn from the cocoon of a silkworm |
Hair | Obtained from the rabbit |
For thousands of years, natural fibre was the only available source for making fabric. But in this modern world, using science and technology, we make fibres artificially. These are called Synthetic fibres.
Some examples of synthetic fibres:
1. Polyester
2. Nylon
3. Acrylic
