Book Free DemoWhile conducting the activity in the previous section, we observed that the insoluble substances separated from the water. This was also found with some liquids; these materials did not mix with water and floated to the water's surface. Others may have sunk to the vessel's bottom, right?
We could have seen a paper floating on the surface of water, not a pen.
Note: The objects that will float in water has low density than water. If the material has a higher density than water, it sinks into the water.
Let us use an activity to understand.
Step 1: Collect objects such as wood, a key, a sponge, coins, stones and a leaf.
Step 2: Fill a vessel halfway with water.
Step 3: Place all in the water.
Step 4: Keep an eye on what is going on.
Step 5: Make a list of the items that float and sink to the bottom of the vessel.
