Lightning is a process of electric chargingelectric dischargeelectric outflow can occur between clouds and the earth's surface or even between two cloudsclouds and the earth's surfacetwo clouds.

 

During lightning, electric charge may passmay not pass through landline telephone wires which is dangerous. Hence it is safer to use a wireless telephone instead of a landline telephone during lightning.
