An amoeba ingests food by forming "food-vacuoles" temporary extensions known as pseudopodsciliaflagellanone of the above on the cell surface that completely enclose the food particle. Complex substances are transformed into simpler ones inside the contractile vacuoleectoplasmfood vacuolepseudopodia. Then, through translocationtranspirationosmosisdiffusion, the less complex substances reach the cytoplasm. The remaining undigested material is moved to the cell's surface and thrown out.
