Women are susceptible to urinary tract infections (UTI), caused by bacteria found on the skin, rectum, or vaginal area. The bacteria, before travelling upwards, enters the urethra. The types of UTI include:
1. Cystitis or Bladder infection:
Cystitis means inflammation of the bladder. It is caused due to bacteria that cause inflammation. The bacteria lodged in the urinary bladder thrive and multiply, leading to the inflammation of the bladder. It becomes severe if the infection spreads to the kidney. Cystitis is most common in people between the age group of \(20\) to \(50\).

2. Kidney Infection:
Kidney infection or pyelonephritis is a type of UTI where the bacteria travels from the urinary bladder upward to the ureter and affects one or both kidneys. The bacteria may also infect the bloodstream, which may lead to serious life-threatening problems.
