10. Temperature conversion

Temperatures between scales can be converted using the following equations.

 

  

The temperature ($T$) in degree Fahrenheit (\(ºF\)) is equal to the temperature ($T$) in degree Celsius (\(ºC\)) multiplied by $9/5$, with $32$ added to the product.

 

 

or

 

 

For example: Convert $30$ $°C$ into $°F$
 
$F = C × 9/5 + 32 F$

 

$= (30 × 9/5) +32 F$

 

$= (270/5) +32F$

 

$= 54 + 32F$

 

$= 86 °F$

 

  

We convert Celsius to Kelvin by adding ($273$) to the Celsius of temperature.

 

 

  

The formula to convert temperature $T$ in degrees Fahrenheit (\(ºF\)) to the temperature ($T$) in Kelvin is, 

 

 

Conversion of  Kelvin $K$ to Celsius \(ºC\):

 

We convert Kelvin to Celsius by subtracting (273) from the temperature in Kelvin.

 

 

Conversion of  Kelvin $K$ to Fahrenheit \(ºF\):

 

The formula to convert temperature $T$ in Kelvin to the temperature ($T$) in degrees Fahrenheit (\(ºF\)) is,
