2. Introduction to the lesson, "If I Were You"

Douglas James' play "If I Were You" deals with suspense, surprise, humour, criminality, and wit. Gerrard, the play's protagonist, lived alone in his cottage. An intruder with a pistol broke into his residence one day, putting Gerrard's life at risk. He was a murderer and had a motive to kill Gerrard. Will Gerrard find the motive of the intruder behind entering Gerrard's house? How will he escape from the murderer? Did he escape at last? If so, how? The answers to these questions fill the remaining part of the story.
