Smog
Our environment has suffered from human activity since the beginning of technological revolution. Its consequences affect nature in every way, polluting water, air and soil and endangering wildlife. We are on the brink of an environmental crisis that can destroy our planet.
Resent research conducted by the World Health Organisation shows that about 5 million people die every year from air pollution. Smog has become a great problem in a lot of cities around the world. Air pollution contributes a lot to greenhouse effect, ozone layer destruction and, therefore, global warming and climate change. All environmental problems are linked to each other and have to be treated together. Industry and vehicles are major source of pollutants, plastic, oil and heavy metals pollute soil and water as well.
Genering undisposable waste is another problem that poses a great threat to the environment. Developed countries produce an excessive amount of waste and dump in seas or burn it, polluting water and air.
Drastic measures should be taken on every level — international organisations, governments, local organisations and, finally, people should increase awareness and fight these problems together. Only collective effort can stop the destruction of our only home — the Earth. Ignoring environmental issues endangers us all.
Choose true or false:
1. We are on the brink of an environmental crisis that can destroy our planet.
2. Environmental problems don't have any connection.
3. Developed countries produce an excessive amount of waste.
