A triangle is right angle triangle when one of its angles is a right angle (\(90°\)), and the other two are acute angles (less than \(90°\)).
Example:
In here, one among the angle is \(90°\), and the other two are acute. That is, \(∠A = 40°\), \(∠B = 50°\) and \(∠C = 90°\).
Terms used in right-angled triangle:
- A right-angled triangle consists of two legs and a hypotenuse.
- The side opposite to the right angle is called the hypotenuse.
- The other two sides are known as the legs of the right-angled triangle.
- The two legs meet at \(90°\) angle.
- The hypotenuse is the longest side of the right triangle, and it is opposite to \(90°\).
Example:
Consider the following triangle.
Here the sides '\(a\)' and '\(b\)' are legs, and the side '\(c\)' is the hypotenuse.
