Explore how grades are read:

' $a$ ' square or ' $a$ ' in the second stage: $a^{2} = a \cdot a$
' $a$ ' cube or 'a' in the third stage: $a^{3} = a \cdot a \cdot a$
' $a$ ' in the fourth stage: $a^{4} = a \cdot a \cdot a \cdot a$

Example:

$5$ square:
$5^{2} = 5 \cdot 5 = 25$

$5$ in the cube:
$5^{3} = 5 \cdot 5 \cdot 5 = 125$

$5$ in the fourth stage:
$5^{4} = 5 \cdot 5 \cdot 5 \cdot 5 = 625$
