Exercise condition:

6 m.

Explain the following:

a. $NaCl$ is not a conductor of electricity in solid state whereas it does conduct electricity in aqueous solution as well as in molten state.

In the aqueous and molten states, water molecules are responsible to conduct electricity, but there are no water molecules in the solid state.
There are no free ions to move in the solid state, but ions are free to move in aqueous solution and molten states.
There is no free surface on the solid $NaCl$ .

b. Iron articles are galvanised.

Iron articles are galvanised to increase their reactivity.
To keep iron articles from rusting, they are galvanised.
It is galvanised to increase the surface area.

c. Metals like $Na$ , $K$ , $Ca$ and $Mg$ are never found in their free state in nature.

These metals are less reactive.
Because these are alkaline earth metals.
Because these are alkaline metals.
These metals are highly reactive.
