The sun is far away fromcloser to the horizon during sunrise and sunset. As a result, the light from the sun passes through denser layer less densed layer of air and covers a largerlesser distance before reaching our eyes. The blue lightred light is mostly scattered and the redblue colour reaches us. This gives the blue appearance red appearance white appearance to the sun at sunrise and sunset. The light form the sun travels lesser distance larger distance during the noon. Most of the colors get scattered and this is the reason why sun appears whitered in color.
